Geography
According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area
of 3.4 km˛ (1.3 mi˛). None of the area is covered with water.
Demographics
As of the census of 2000, there are 1,444 people, 585 households, and 372
families residing in the village. The population density is 422.4/km˛
(1,097.6/mi˛). There are 624 housing units at an average density of 182.5
persons/km˛ (474.3 persons/mi˛). The racial makeup of the village is 99.24%
White, 0.14% African American, 0.14% Native American, 0.07% Asian, 0.07%
Pacific Islander, 0.07% from other races, and 0.28% from two or more races.
0.14% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 585 households out of which 32.1% have children under the age of
18 living with them, 55.0% are married couples living together, 6.3% have a
woman whose husband does not live with her, and 36.4% are non-families.
31.5% of all households are made up of individuals and 15.9% have someone
living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is
2.38 and the average family size is 2.99.
In the village the population is spread out with 25.5% under the age of 18,
5.9% from 18 to 24, 28.6% from 25 to 44, 21.8% from 45 to 64, and 18.2% who
are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 39 years. For every 100
females there are 90.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there
are 83.0 males.
