| Where are bus
stations in Athens located ? |
| For most of the
day, buses are absolutely packed. Drivers don't speak English. Purchase
a ticket before the trip and validate it on the bus. Tickets priced at
0.45 euros are available at special blue booths, near bus stops and at
kiosks throughout the city. |

| Where are metro
monorail stations in Athens located ? |
| The subway
system now has three lines, and further expansions are planned. The red
line (No. 2) connects the suburb of Daphni with Sepolia, in northern
Athens. The blue line (No. 3) runs from Monastiraki, in the Plaka, to
Ethniki Amyna, in the eastern part of the city. (A future extension is
planned from there to the international airport.) The old green line
(No. 1) still runs between Kifissia and Piraeus. Maps are available at
stations.
Trains run every three minutes during
rush hour and every 10 minutes the rest of the day. Tickets must be
purchased before entering the subway and validated before entering the
train platform. Inspectors sometimes enter trains to check for validated
tickets, and fines are issued for passengers riding without a properly
validated ticket. |
